i have a dilemma (did i spell dilemma correctly?

): i am the only person i know, of any of my former witness associates, who left because i started doubting/stopped believing the teachings.

i did research on the internet, read books, talked to people from different religions, etc.

I left the borg for morality reasons myself, even though I had doubts too. I was just tired of slaving for the BS'ers in Crooklyn and decided to jump off of the treadmill - come what may.

Now that I've been enlightened I could never go back and I don't want to hear any of that BS anymore.

You should help your friends open their eyes and see the light so they can live without fear. What else are friend's for? Meanwhile, widen your circle (ugh ... that sounded too much like 'reach out' )

Field Service is a Farce

i touch on this subject in another post but i felt the need to take it further...back in the day jw's went out in fs but i don't know about today.... i live in a big city....the territory my congregation has is small because there are so many cong.

here.. our bookstudy only had maybe four blocks at the most to work.

my ex husband and i would go to the meetings and hear talk about fs and all the wonderful and experiences and the joy oh joy in being out in the ministry.

I can't believe the dishonesty (really ) I was such a ~~faithful~~ sucker I never lied on my FS report. Plus I felt like crap when I didn't get at least 10 hours. I fudged a little bit about the family study - I can't believe I spent all those years feeling guilty when I could have just doctored my report .

To the subject though, it seemed like folks in my area were pretty well trained on the FS issue. Saturday morning there would be a decent group at the book study. Weekdays it was mostly pios. and auxs. We had a large territory but worked it over pretty good. I hardly see anybody out these days though.

The worst of the worst was 'holiday' witnessing though. I had a regular RV tell me off in good fashion for intruding his Christmas celebration. He said they never read the magazines I left and they just took 'em to be nice to me (that was sweet wasn't it LOL). Anyhow - he sure got rid of my arse. Good for him!

There is no graceful way to back out ...

i find it interesting that the chickens have come home to roost for wts.. just as they have allowed no dignified way to exit the org, without disgrace, there seems to be no way for them to gracefully apologize for past (errors???).

just think of the recent mass exodus of faithful that has come about with each major doctrine change.

so many have been ruined by devoting their lives to the gb, that even if there was a sincere effort to correct things, i believe that the vast majority of the current membership would just revolt.. it's just a matter of time before the entire house of cards comes tumbling down.. so, whaddya think?.

I think the WT will go on but their membership will dwindle in developed countries where people have access to more information whether it be the internet or the media.

My mom has a friend who watched every TV show about JW's and Ex-JW's. She believes they are a cult and wanted so much for me to find out what was going on but I refused to listen to her. It wasn't until after I left and was thinking about going back that I began to uncover the real story behind the tower.

The truth about the troof is already out, and they have and will continue to lose members and it will be much more difficult to bring in new recruits. IMHO.

tomorrow i will be mailing my special do not call, come by, or mail our family anything letter to new york.

i was told i should also send the same letter to all the local congregations we were once affiliated with.. i did this when we lived at our old address and the letter to the local kh came back returned for having no mailbox.. so how am i supposed to get the letters to them?.

any idea's?.

Train your dog to attack when he hears the name Jehovah. That way when they knock on the door and say 'Jehovah's Witnesses' he/she'll go crazy and scare the bejeezes out of them!!

I'm so glad they don't bother me. Seven years out and no visits or phone calls. Sweet bliss.

Haven't been to a KH in years ... but the best of the worst local needs talks was about sisters keeping themselves clean during menstruation (I kid you not!) AND ... general body odor issues.

Disgusting, isn't it?

Great post skullery - I squandered about a third of my life trying to 'get a firm hold on the real life' (uh oh ... here it comes ) only to wake up feeling like evil said, merely existing and not truly living at all. Now, I too like the mortgage, job, car payment etc. that go along with leading a 'normal' life. I still need to learn not to put things off though - procrastinator by nature.

I live my life according to my own wants, needs and desires. I stopped worrying about if some fairy tail filled book condemns my actions. I rather like to follow the simple words of Jesus to love others as I love myself. I'm happy with that and if anyone else isn't I could truly care less. An absence of religious affiliation doesn't necessarily mean an absence of values or spirituality.

i've lived in my new house for a year and a half... in a nice newer neighborhood, in town.. the dubs have never been to my house and i've never seen them in the neighborhood.

i'm home almost all day every day!.

i've had the mormons here 3 times.

Funny how you had visits from three different religions. I remember how the witlesses would say, "do you see anybody else going from door to door" or "we're the ONLY religion that follows the example of first century Christians ...". In the back of my mind I wanted to see evidence of this first century house to house preaching!

Anywho - don't feel left out U/D, when the Big A comes just tell the angels you were waiting for a reminder but nobody showed up at your door.

Same control tacticts, information (new light) still flows from the GB and the R&F better get in line or bend over.

And as was stated earlier, there are new issues to deal with. That said, the old issues will never go away unless the WT leadership fesses up and admits their wrongdoing. Bottom line ... JW's don't want to hear ANY criticism of the borganization and will respond (sometimes intelligently) by coming to borgs defense.

here's the situation.

my wife couldn't answer some deep issues i've raised regarding a few of the wts's teachings and dishonest representation of historical sources.

naturally, she attributes her lack of answers to her own lack of research and knowledge.

I like sunspot's idea. If you study the publication he chooses then you can challenge him on his own 'turf'. If you should choose this method, I suggest you don't move on until he is able to answer the questions you posed in the chapter, or accept that you two disagree.

If the new book is set up anything like the old 'Live Forever' book, then the meaty (insert puke here) parts are towards the end ie. the true crapola, that's when you can really kick his arse! I wouln't be afraid of him per se, and honestly, in a search for truth there should be nothing to fear.

You have all the help you need to 'stomp the chump' here. But being a former witless myself, I don't know how you can keep this from interfering in the relationship with your wife ... that's the true dilemma.
